Shine with Eglo!
The world where we choose to change the frequency of the everyday to stop the rhythm a little is of inestimable importance. Precisely for this fact, the place where we go to rest must be equipped with all the right elements to offer us what our mind is prepared to find, perceiving and enjoying its rest in this form.
But why is the psychology of lighting so important in the hospitality and tourism sector in general?
When guests enter the hotel, they can’t necessarily tell the exact art and science of its lighting. An unusual or substantial chandelier or light fixture might catch their eye, but that’s about it. Choosing the right lighting sounds like an easy, do-it-yourself designer job, and yet, it never occurs to you that the best work in this sector is often invisible but just perceptible. from the senses of those who will rest there.
Visitors may not see all the work you have done, but they will know how the hotel makes them feel. And isn’t that just the most important thing after all?
Do you know what role lighting plays in the exterior and interior design of the hotel?
The purpose of lighting in a hospitality project can be divided into several main categories:

1. Color Management
The overall color scheme of a lobby, lounge or hotel room can create distinct moods, which lighting can accentuate or detract from.
Sunlight, although it appears yellow, actually has high amounts of blue light in its overall composition. This blue light reduces the production of the hormone melatonin which helps us sleep.
Therefore, in such environments that are temples of rest, you need as much calm and pleasant light as possible, but without ever taking away the magic of the beautiful and magical glow. With the right lighting, you adapt to any environment in the right way, bringing you closer to the main goal, transparency, cleanliness and relaxation.
LED sources also have a lot of blue light, so while it’s less expensive to operate, it adds value to your guests’ comfort.
Warm lighting tones are best to help guests get a good night’s sleep. A mix of warm and cool tones bring depth to the window as it mimics daylight, while curved shapes provide the illusion of depth, helping to relax the eye.
Additionally, a specific spectrum of light is used in the morning and evening to induce natural relaxation and awakening.

2. Directional lighting
When guests first enter your lobby, you want the reception desk to be bright and shiny. It will attract the eye, and there you can decide what you would like to highlight by instinctively signaling to guests what to do next, so that they do not have to stand around looking lost.
A well-lit reception desk, which should be the focal point of the lobby, also provides a sense of warmth and hospitality. This is especially important considering that most guests will be tired or running late and want an immediate break.
Subtle lighting can also gently highlight landing areas, providing another respite for the weary traveler. In those areas, warm, indirect lighting creates a relaxing atmosphere.
In a corridor, it can highlight a bust or a painting. In a hotel room, it can light up a coffee corner a bit, creating a sense of comfort by showing the bedside table or the bed…etc.

3. Functional lighting in hotel interior design
Any light can help you see. In hotel interior design, the requirements are a little more specific. There are seven types of lighting that you can refer to:
– General ambient lighting for the room and toilet – provides not only visibility, but also sets the mood in the right place
– The right lighting for reading in bed or working on the table – can be table or front lighting
– Mirror lighting – can be lamps around the mirror or a larger light above it
– Overhead lighting in the toilet area – a warm, not bright light helps guests to stay safe
– Accent lighting – although it adds visibility, its main purpose is to create atmosphere
– Closet lighting – can be done with lighting inside or just outside, but pointing from inside the closet
– Subtle light at night – your guests are in a unfamiliar environment, which, unlike when they are at home, they cannot navigate with their eyes closed. A soft light under the tables, under the bed and / or along the walls can help them find their way without having to turn on the harshest lights throughout the night. It also creates the feeling of being safe at home.

4. Space
Proper lighting can make a space look more beautiful than it actually is. This is especially used for business or budget hotels: free space is maximized for the benefit that lighting has. If the obvious solution is to add lights, there are two facts that should automatically be taken into consideration:
• Lack of free space – Avoid floor lamps and table lamps if the space is tight
• Choice of light color – So that a the room feels as spacious and airy as possible, the light should be closer to natural light. Artificial light makes a space seem even narrower.
In order to best illustrate all the above-mentioned, we find them best dressed in the illustration of the photos you see from Hotel Murrizi.
