The journey speaks…

It is often said that we are the stories we represent, because what we experience along the journey of life defines us better than anything else.

Born this way, chaste and uncompromising, I have decided to talk to you today about my life, journey, challenges… where I am today and where I think I will be tomorrow.

My journey is exciting because it is full of light, it is exactly that light that has nourished me spiritually for the mission I have in my heart: “Illuminate the world”!

Are you curious to know how it started? Where am I, and where will I be tomorrow?

They say that bright minds have always found inspiration by dealing with the subject of light.

This became my inspiration!

Let’s start from the beginning… even though the light bulb is said to have been invented by Thomas Edison, scientists and inventors had begun to explore the use of electric light as early as the early 19th century. Although the first patents for light bulbs were granted in 1841, Edison allowed their practical use and mass production as early as 1880.

“Contemporary design, coupled with high functionality and affordable prices.”

This has been and continues to be my motto!

I have always wanted to innovate, and precisely for this reason I have developed and produced products that are adapted to the needs of all those who follow me, real and potential customers. I am currently working intensively with “smart” lighting, as a need of today and as a dream of mine from the past, which is becoming a reality thanks to the magical technology of the present. In this way it is bringing light and lighting into a digitally networked and easily controllable form.

Whatever the future brings in terms of light, I am sure that I will continue to seek the best as a contemporary lighting solution for all areas of life, from the Austrian Tyrol – my home, to the whole world.

My story is bright, not only because I am light, but because the itinerary of my life shows it best. I am showing you only some of the culminating and unique moments, full of light:

Just put the number 1969 in a search engine. You will discover that it was a very eventful year:

• America was proud of Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon.
• Germany was proud of the first heart transplant that was performed in Germany.
• Concord made the first flight in France.

My story now as a corporation begins exactly in that golden year.

I was founded in 1969!

I was young, determined, persistent and constantly developing: these became the cornerstones on which I created the character and spirit of the company that it is today.

About 50 years ago, my father Ludwig Obwieser instilled these very characteristics in me by breathing. So far he has written a success story for me that we not only celebrate but can be very proud of.

In 1986 I went global!

“From small Tyrol, to the big world” – it sounds more like a tourism slogan, but I know that it was my soul that already had a home, and from that, it was also illuminating the soul of billions of people all over the world, right in the temple their peace, their intimate environment, and not only!

My globalization started in the 1980s and 1990s. The first step was in 1986, I founded the first sales company in Germany, and now I operate in over 70 companies and in more than 50 countries around the world.

In 1994, I had the first representative office in Hungary.

The first major Eglo plant was built in Pásto, Hungary in 1994. The structure has been continuously expanded and now includes a 4-story 14,000 m² production hall and a 5,000 m² warehouse fully automated according to the latest technology.

In 1997 I experienced steady growth.

Every warehouse built in my bosom already had the goal of centering. All of this was done to allow for the most effective and rapid distribution. In 1997, my storage area exceeded 10,000 m3 for the first time. This trend continued for the next 20 years. By 2017, the storage area had reached approximately 200,000 m3.

In 2001 came the expansion of production with the factory in China.

I started manufacturing in China since 2001. The office and production building covers an area exceeding 120,000 m². The EGLO factory in China has more than 1,100 employees, which makes me very proud and motivated.

In 2006 I jumped into the future by embracing LEDs.

The world of light is characterized by more than visual trends. I am always motivated to keep up with the latest technical developments. Thus, in 2006, I began my journey in LED technology.

Today, almost my entire world consists of long-life, energy-saving LED lighting.

In 2016, I happily jumped into “Smart” lighting.

In 2007, Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone. From that moment, the Smartphone began its triumphant progress. And now, it is a separate mission that everyone’s home is also “Smart”. Times evolve, and we evolve with them. That’s why I’m still working on the most perfect solution of the future, so that lighting can be easily controlled, in your home and beyond! Fast and easy, always using your smart devices!

In 2017 I created the first Manufacturing Plant in India!

I’ve been manufacturing lighting in China and Hungary for many years up until this frozen moment in time, so the next achievement in terms of manufacturing capabilities was opening the plant in India. After full preparation, the first EGLO product was produced in India in 2017.

And here comes the long-awaited moment, in 2019 I, little Eglo, after a long and exciting journey, celebrated my 50th anniversary. With fire in my heart for the continuation, I feel as if these 50 years have been only 5!

Think globally, act locally!

No company understands this philosophy better than my EGLO Group, I am proud to call it my Group, because I am already: headquartered in Pill, Austria, with over 70 companies worldwide, producing more than 80,000 luminaires per day, and I have factories in Hungary, China and India.

… and I’m still very eager to grow!

In 2021 – My logistics takes wings with the 4th warehouse in Gejrmani.

Precisely because I cannot stop, as part of my continuous development, so that my group can work smoothly, I have provided this year the best logistics network, the European one.

Adding a fourth central warehouse in Magdeburg, Germany has given me wings!

This new warehouse has a space for approximately 76,000 pallets, and employs over 150 people.

My journey continues, because I am Eglo and I am enlightening the world!

I, that little Eglo, have always grown up playing the role of the great parent, what my father instilled in me. With the great desire and dream that the world of enlightenment is led by us.

I grew up always wanting to be a leader and the best example.

I grew up with daily work, with the faith of every soul that is enlightened by me.

I want the best for you, that’s why I work hard for you. I promise you that under the taste of my enlightenment we will live together wonderfully, today and tomorrow.
